RZB is exploring new dimensions and wins the GOOD DESIGN AWARD (USA) five times

Smart Technology. Excellent Design.
Five (!) luminaires made by RZB Rudolf Zimmermann Bamberg GmbH, designed by Helmut Heinrich, were currently honoured with the desired GOOD DESIGN AWARD in the category LIGTHING 2012.

Founded in 1950 in Chicago, the GOOD DESIGN AWARD is considered the most renowned design award in the world and is presented by the >Chicago Athenaeum museum for architecture and design in cooperation with the European Centre of Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. Some of the best known founding fathers of this award alongside Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames is Edgar Kaufmann Jr., the former curator of the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART.

Larry L. Sommers, co organizer of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD explained, that in 2012 the Chicago Athenaeum Museum received more than 3.000 applications from 48 countries, out of which the jury chose 700 products in various categories. 47 awards were presented worldwide in the section lightning.

RZB convinced the ambitious judges with the luminaires RING OF FIRE, COROS CRYSTAL, SIDELITE ELLYPSOID, LAVANO and the series QUADRALED, all of them RZB designed by Helmut Heinrich. Therefore the internationally operating luminaire producer RZB is in good company with its design products: Products like the Boing 787 or the NASA space ship were honoured with this desired award. RZB is the most successful company in its field and confirms its top position in the champions league. An outstanding success.

Each year the jury consists of company representatives, international diplomats and professionals from the architecture-, design- and art scene. The decision criterions for this jury were particularly innovation, shape, material, construction, concept, function, usefulness and aesthetic impression of the products.

Together with the price, the winners of the GOOD DESIGN AWARD receive the licence to use the GOOD DESIGN logo, which was created by the american industrial designer Mort Goldsholl.
